Sunrock League Constitution Season 2011/2012

General

1. The League will be known as the Sunrock league.
2. The League will be conducted on Sunday evenings from 6.45pm after a 5 minute warm-up.
3. The officers will be elected by a majority vote.
4. The league captains and elected officers will manage the League.
5. The league will have duration of 7 rounds.

League Sanction

6. The League will be a non sanctioned league.

Weekly Fees

7. Weekly fees of $25.00 consists of $18.45 linage and $6.55 prize fund per bowler. At the stage where the bowling centre increases the lane fees the league will review the weekly bowling fees.
8. The league Secretary shall be paid 30 cents per bowler per night.
9. The league Treasurer shall be paid 30 cents per bowler per night. If the Secretary/Treasurer is held by the one committee member, then that person will only receive one payment, not both.
10. Bowling fees must be paid on the night of bowling. Bowling fees can’t be paid the following week.
11. No league funds will be carried over from one league into the next where possible.
12. The previous leagues financial records are to be kept by the league secretary for a period of 5 years and be available to any bowler wishing to see them with 1 weeks notice to the secretary.

League Prizefund

13. Prize fund is to be paid by each bowler weekly or if absent the 1st week of the bowlers return.
14. Each bowler MUST have their prize fund contribution paid in full at the end of the league. If not the amount in arrears will be deducted from the amount of prize money that the bowlers is entitled to. If there is a shortfall in prize money to cover the arrears, then that bowler’s team prize money will be reduced to cover the outstanding amount.
15. The prize fund distribution will be managed by the league Secretary & Treasurer.

Teams

16. Each team will consist of 4 bowlers.
17. Each team may have 1 team reserve.
18. A legal line up for each team is 2 bowlers per night except if there is a vacancy in the team then the legal line will be 1 bowler and 1 vacancy.

Averages & Handicaps

19. Handicaps will be based on 100% of 225 of all bowlers in the league.
20. The league average will be 120 plus 105 handicap.
21. Bowlers with an average of 225 or more will bowl off scratch.
22. A blind score must be used for any absent bowler. (Bowlers average, less 10 pins per games).
23. At the beginning of a new league, bowlers will carry their entering averages for 3 games.
24. The league will calculate 2 average systems during the season, a rolling average and a season average. The higher of the 2 averages will be used on a weekly basis for the purpose of determining a bowlers handicap & team bonus points. A rolling average is an average of the bowler’s last 18 games bowled. A season average is an average of each game bowled during the season.
25. The League will reassess averages for the 1st round of competition. If a bowler’s current season’s average drops 10 pins below their entering average, the bowler’s average will be adjusted to the entering average less 10 pins for the following week’s competition. The reassessed average will be used for the purpose of determining a bowlers handicap & team bonus points. The reassessed average will be used until which time the bowler’s current season average is higher than their entering average less the 10 pins.

Points

26. The Points system will be as follows, 2 points for each game won with handicap, 1 point for the highest overall series pinfall with handicap, 1 bonus point for achieving combined team average per game.
27. In the event of a bye, to win the points of that night, the team must bowl their combined average less 40 pins or 30 pins if there is a vacancy score. To win the Bonus point for combined average, the team must still bowl 900 (40 pins is NOT subtracted from this).
28. If a team does not show up for play and no previous notification has been given, the opposing team will bowl a forfeit (BYE rules apply as per Rule 27).
29. Should a tie occur for first place then it will be necessary for a playoff to be bowled between those two teams. However, a tie for all other place will be decided by the highest handicap pinfall.

Team Captains

30. The team captain is responsible for the accuracy of all score sheets and must be at all time legible and totaled up or face the chance of loosing points.

Tardy Players

31. Tardy Players can enter any time during the game by agreement between the 2 team captains. If an agreement can’t be made, bowlers can enter the game no later than the end of the third frame of the first game to be able to participate in that game. The bowler must then be present for the start of the following games.

Pre or Post Bowling

32. There will be no deferred matches pre or post bowling allowed.

New Teams & New Bowlers Entering the League

33. Any team joining the league after the league has commenced past week one will be placed on last place points.
34. No team or bowler will be allowed to enter the league during the last round of competition unless agreed to by the members of the league or by the team captains by majority vote.

Roving Reserves.

35. Roving reserves are NOT permitted to bowl in the league.

Absent & Resigning Bowlers

36. Any bowler being absent for more than the three consecutive weeks without notice to the League Secretary will be considered no longer a member of the league.
37. Bowlers who are missing “with prior notice” for more than three weeks will not lose their average, however the team may only use their blind score for 3 weeks and then must revert to the league average until their return. Bowlers returning after this duration will resume on their existing average.
38. Bowlers wishing to leave the league must notify the secretary. Once the bowler has left the league, the team may use a vacancy score from the bowlers 1st week of absence. If the team uses a vacancy score from the bowlers 1st week of absence, the resigning bowler is unable to return to the league until the start of the next season.
39. Any bowler or team resigning from the league must notify the secretary. However, no monies will be refunded.

Awards & Prizes

40. All teams must complete at least two-thirds of the league competition to be eligible for prizes.
41. A bowler must bowl two-thirds of the league to be eligible to receive any individual awards, this can be overruled for a bowler in special circumstances by majority vote of the team captains.
42. Players must choose between cash or trophies as their award. (Game & Series).
43. A bowler can only win 1 major individual award and 1 team award. (Strikes, Consistency, League Champion, Most Improved, etc are minor awards).
44. The most improved award is the difference between a bowlers entering average and the bowlers final average. If a bowler does not have an entering average, the difference between the bowlers 1st series bowled and final average will be used.

Presentation Night

45. Bowlers MAY have to contribute to the cost of the night out if insufficient funds are available.
46. If a league member is unable to attend the presentation night, a bowler can pass their bowlers ticket onto a guest to take the place of the bowler at presentation night. If the major prize is won by the guest who has the bowler’s proxy to attend, the prize will be kept by the committee & given to the bowler on return to the league.
47. A bowler can only be replaced by a guest who is a fully financial member of the league.
48. Guest attending the night out must be paid for in full by the last night of competition or otherwise directed by the committee. If the guest is not paid for by this time, the guest will be not allowed to attend the night out.

Miscellaneous

49. Foul lights (if operational) can only be turned off in mechanical failure with the permission of the committee.
50. This constitution has been adopted by the majority vote of the members of the Sunrock league present at the reformation meeting and supersedes all previous constitutions.
51. Any rule not adopted in this constitution shall be resolved from the T.B.A rulebook.
52. A copy of this constitution shall be given to each team captain of the league.
